Beaches

There are many excellent courses nearby, including Moruya Golf Course at your doorstep.
Fishing
You couldn’t ask for more pristine waters Moruya and surrounds to cast a line and relax. There are many boat launching sites into the Moruya River nearby and local charter operators that offer estuary, beach, rock and off shore fishing. Saturday Moruya Markets
These weekly markets attract visitors and locals alike. With lots of fresh local produce from the surrounding area for sale, you can purchase delicious gourmet treats or just have a browse.
Moruya Museum
This is a great place to visit to find out more about history of the area. You can also visit the Genealogy Research Room and find out more about your ancestors. This is one of the best collections of records held anywhere outside the capital cities.
Moruya River Boat Hire
Hire a boat and go for a cruise up the river, or cast your line and catch some fresh fish.
Mogo
Located 15 minutes North, Mogo is a historic gold mining village. There is plenty to see and do here and it’s easy to spend the whole day here.
Mogo Zoo is renowned for its animal breeding program and endangered species work. Here you can see snow leopards, white lions, giraffes, red pandas, lions, tigers and brown bears. www.mogozoo.com.au
There are plenty of delicious cafes and shops to have a wander and relax.
Narooma
Narooma is 25 minutes south and is popular for whale watching between September and November. There are several operators running cruises and there are many different types of whales to see – including Humpbacks, Southern Right, Blue and Killer Whales. Montague Island is 9km off shore and is home to New Zealand Fur Seals and Australia’s second largest colony of Little Penguins. You can get a charter out to the island and take a tour. This is well worth a visit.
Tilba
This is a beautiful area to visit for the day. Central Tilba is a historic village that was recently identified as one of Australia’s top 20 heritage sites. It’s still a working village today, where local artists practice their craft, including leather workers, wood turners, a cobbler and many others.
There are also many events scattered throughout the year, such as Moruya Races at where you can experience a traditional country race meeting or the annual Jazz festival held in October which is extremely popular and the town comes to life with music.
